Half-way across Life: Reflection of a Birthday Boy

Hmm... Just marked the big '4'! The feeling? Well, if you're looking at the age, you might say, "Oh, I got old!" But if you look at the bigger picture, your reaction will be, "Man! I'm half-way across the journey of life." That's what I like to see as I celebrate my birthday.
I woke up on a sunny October morning, and the little voice in my head said: "Guess what, you're turning 40 this year!" That sparked this thought, "Ha! Time to reminisce on the past and reflect on the future."
I don't know how many years I have left, for it's in God's hands. But if it were up to my desire, I'd like to live till 100. Too much? OK, let's make it 80. Being this the case, I've lived half of my life. Looking back at the first half, it's a mixed one. I've had bed of roses and rough patches, both of which were of important lessons in life. Despite the good and not-good experiences that I had over the last four decades, I see those times now as "warm-up" sessions.
Looking ahead, I've got the "2nd half" coming up. With all the challenges & triumphs, success & failure, and laughter & cries, I got a strong feeling that the next 40 [to 60] years will be my interesting and pivotal ones. So as I turned 40, I feel more energetic, happy, and optimist, amid these times of uncertainty!
